During the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition was taking place, SAE-China Design Events were taking place at UCCA, 798 Art Zone in Beijing.

April 19th, the design seminar for design students was held with Dr. Patrick le Quemen as the instructor, who is a former chief designer of Renault. The seminar was one day event, and Dr. Le Quemen told over hundreds of design students from all over China about useful techniques of presentation, and sketching with unique methods.

In the morning of April 21st, final presentation for students’ competition was taking place. 5 finalists, who were chosen from over hundred works from design students all over China, made presentation of their design and clay model in front of world top class professional designers such as Dr. Le Quemen and Mr. Shiro Nakamura of Nissan.

In the afternoon, China Automotive Design Summit was held. Guest speaker, Mr. Shiro Nakamura of Nissan, Mr. Ikuro Horii of Toyota, Mr. Sooshin Choi of CCS, and Dr. Patrick le Quemen made presentations and discussion with design managers of Chinese automotive companies were taking place.

In the evening, China Designers Party was held. Participants of the Designers Party come from different region of the world, so the party was very good place for automotive designers to meet new people, share thoughts, and networking.

Next year, the events will take place in Shanghai during the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show.
